Looking at my list from 2010 I am quietly pleased with progress. Not everything was achieved by any means. But other things, that didn't make the list, were accomplished - so all is not lost!
1) Yoga - check - thanks Yoga to the People for being right next door to my house! (excercise in general - 7/10 - must do better)
2) Alcatraz swim - check - no joke! 10/10
3) Half dome - half check - Yosemite trip had to cater to over 50's but we made it half way up 5/10
4) Green/eco self education and engagement.... - 2/10. Not good.
5) Volunteering - not quite yet despite trying to find the right place - but have lined up something for the spring 2011. 2/10
6) I will take the exam I dare not name: - abandoned - total fail - change of plan - MBA might be wasted on me and pea sized brain. 0/10
7) I will build my personal online presence and brand: achieved sufficiently well to get new job - 7/10
8) I will make a 3-5 year plan: 5/10 - picture at least becoming clearer.
9) I will not drink alcohol in January - (except red wine in an emergency): total fail - drank consistently. 0/10
10) I will visit New Orleans (no) Grand Canyon (yes), Hawaii (yes), New York (yes), Utah, (yes) UK (yes) Plus Toronto, Chicago and Muscatine Iowa. 9/10
However, there were things that didn't appear on this list that feel like good achievements to be noted.
1) Qualified for basic scuba diving.
2) Learned how to ride motorbike outside of a car park.
3) Totally fell in love with gardening - which could lead me more naturally into conservation and eco related stuff rather than forcing it. Also volunteering at SF Botanical Garden nursery come Spring kinda covers the urge to commit time to something bigger than me.
4) Helped my dad position his new company and set up website with design agency
5) Got a sweet new job in awesome rapidly growing company led by awe inspiring female founder/CEO (thereby turning around sense of purpose/esteem/confidence etc - this was a biggy!)
6) Raised $2400 for charities with swim.
7) Made a couple of new friends - dealt with losing 2 great friends to other cities/countries.
8) Moved into new house/neighbourhood and, while decoration has been a challenge thanks to the persistent uncertainty around permanance, the deck at least looks pretty sweet.
The score
So, in all this year's tally is 4.9/10 on average for the year as it relates to my list. But, as the others things achieved were almost more important - I think 7/10 is a better reflection on the year as a whole? Fair? Who knows.
