I am Claire. I'm into social media, which is what brought to San Francisco from London in 2007. I work for Six Apart, a blogging software and social media company, where I'm senior product marketing manager for TypePad. I focus on customer acquisition initiatives in vertical segments of the market, but I also wear an account management hat for the major media clients using TypePad to reach their readership.
My acquisition work is mostly community management based - generating goodwill among niche groups to drive positive word of mouth. I find and build relationships with key influencers using many of the social media tools I am promoting; blogging, SEM, SMO (social media optimization), Display ads, affiliate programs and partnerships with other companies providing complimentary software that meets the needs of each audience
I am passionate about the opportunity that blogging and social media present for very small businesses to market themselves with little investment. I love few things more than helping an enthusiast try to make a living from their dream or hobby. The marketing tools available to them today can bring those dreams to life.
